
Deanna Meyer, Head Coach
Coach Deanna Meyer has over eleven years of high school coaching experience and begins the 2008 season with an impressive188/80 career win/loss record. Under Coach Meyer's eight year tenure, Lone Peak volleyball has become one of the premier programs in the state and a perennial state title contender, having taken 1st or 2nd for the past five season. Coach Meyer guided her teams to the State 4A Championship both in 2003 and 2004. In each of its first two years in the 5A classification Lone Peak took 2nd place in the state tournament, and in the 2007 season Lone Peak became the reigning state champion.
Recognized by her peers for these impressive achievements, Coach Meyer was named the 4A Utah Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2004 and in 2005 the National Federation of High Schools Volleyball Coach of the Year for the state of Utah. In 2007 Coach Meyer was the Utah State Coach of the Year, the 5A coach of the year, and the Salt Lake Tribune Coach of the Year.
Deanna Meyer has B. S. degree in health education, a minor in physiology and is endorsed in physical and biological science from the University of Utah. She received her Masters of Science in science education from Montana State University in Bozeman. Coach Meyer encourages excellence both in the classroom and on the court. In 2005 and 2006, the varsity volleyball team posted combined GPA of 3.7, qualifying them to receive the American Volleyball Coaches Association High School "Game Plan/AVCA Team Academic Award." Coach Meyer, always a teacher, has encouraged this year's team to not merely repeat that award, but to do so with an even higher collective GPA. Coach Meyer credits much of her success as both a teacher and a coach to the support of her husband, John, and her three daughters, Samantha (14), Emma (5) and Kaitlyn (2). The Lone Peak team members and their parents thank Deanna Meyer for her leadership, coaching, and concern, and look forward to another exciting volleyball season with Coach Meyer at the head of Lone Peak's volleyball program..
